It is on June 9th in Washington DC for the sing-a-long. For Florida, school gets out on June 6th. My mom and I will be on a flight on June 7th to Washington DC.

They are also having a BIG 100th anniversary march, on March 12th 2012 in Savannah, Georgia. The will be closing the bridge, and have the girls walk over it, into Savannah for Girl Scout Founder Julliete Gordon Low.

I don't think NFC will replace QR codes. I think they could even work in conjunction with one another. I saw one the other day in the mall that would link you to a movie, to basically play a video ad on your device. Lots of interesting concepts. I know NFC could do the same, but I don't really want to be annoyed. QR means I am the one who initiates, it's not interrupting a conversation I'm having, or quiet/zen time. There is definitely such a thing as too much input, and I think NFC will help spur on too much information.

Unfortunately I don't have any further information. You can check out Nations Capital Girl Scout Council (linked in the article) to see if they have added info there. It's not until next year, but best to plan early.

The versatility of NFC is a game changer. Not just enhancing commerce but the sharing of data etc. Makes 2D codes irrelevant. No?

Since this event is next summer, the only information we have received is a "Save the Date" announcement that this is happening. I don't always have a good pulse on the Girl Scout community, but following your council through newsletters or on twitter is a great start. I know that Girl Scouts of Western Washington and Girl Scouts Citrus Council both have accounts with Twitter.

I actually never notice the speed of it. I have the script run through a cron every morning, and send me the report via email, to tell me what my rank is for every store. Honestly, while the script may not be the most speedy one I've ever seen, it is hitting over 100 URLs and each hit takes transport time, and then minimal parsing time.

I was never a Girl Scout but a Leader for 14 Yrs. I always wanted to be a Girl Scout. I was either to old or already to many girls in the troop. Remeber one more girl is just that one more. I loved being a leader. I was not one of the one who did alot of outdoor stuff so I stayed with Brownies the 6 to 8 yr olds.. I did go on some camp outs and helped in any way I could with my girls troops. I am glad to know my daughter liked Girl Scouts and went on to help with her Girls. Helping out our children to become great adults is the name of the game..

Elizabeth, I have updated the article to show more clearly where the information came from and to make the link clickable... I do not know who originally wrote the poem, but it is linked to from Scouting for All Seasons... Good Luck!
